I think that Wedding VIDEO is important!
What a strange title for an article written by a photographer! But I really want to explain why I think wedding video is important. So, if you’re planning a wedding, go ahead and disagree with me...

Let’s start with my story.
Around 20 years ago, I started working in the video production industry. I filmed short films, commercials and music videos, and even won several awards in different film competitions. Later, I completely switched from video to photography, and eventually focused on wedding photography.
But there was always something I missed.
When I delivered wedding photos to my clients, I sometimes wished I could also send them a short video that would bring them back to the day. Of course, photographs can do that too, but video is different. It captures movement, natural sound, the atmosphere, and all those little details that are easy to forget over time.
With photographs, you might remember how you felt when you look at them years later. But a video can bring back things you probably wouldn't remember otherwise: the sound of the lake, the weather that day, your guests laughing, your parents sitting in the front row, or the voice of your best man or dad giving a funny speech.
About two or three years after switching to photography, I came across a Ukrainian photographer on YouTube who had an interesting way of combining photography and video. He filmed each wedding in a vlog style without giving up his work as a photographer. At the time, he had a dedicated vlogger working alongside him.
I loved the idea, but I knew that hiring another person to film every wedding would make the whole thing far too expensive in Lake Como. So I started thinking about how I could do something similar myself.
That's when I came up with the idea of using a GoPro for wedding vlogging. It allowed me to film parts of the day without having to stop photographing or turn the wedding into a film production.
After getting the right gear, I started making wedding vlogs.
And honestly, even during the times when I thought, "Maybe I should just stop doing this," I always came to the same conclusion: I wanted to keep the video.

About three or four years after I started working as a wedding photographer, I began getting booked not only around Como, but also in Tuscany and on the Amalfi Coast. By then, I already had a professional videographer on my team, but most of those bookings were still for photography.
It would have been a shame not to capture some of those beautiful wedding moments on video in such incredible locations, so I was very happy that my vlogging experience could come in handy.
And what about the clients? They absolutely love it!
Imagine getting your wedding photos and, alongside them, a short video bringing some of those moments back to life. You don't just get to see what happened — you get to hear it, watch it, and experience a little bit of the atmosphere all over again.

And if you’re still not convinced, have a look at my VLOG section on the website. Over the years, I’ve captured so many wedding moments that I sometimes find myself watching them again — not only because they remind me of my work, but because they bring back the atmosphere and memories of those days.
So, let’s look at the pros and cons of having a wedding video and see if it helps you make up your mind.
Pros
1. You get the moments, the voices and the atmosphere.
You can receive at least two videos — a short one and a longer one — capturing some of the most important parts of your wedding day, complete with real sounds, voices and all the atmosphere that photos simply cannot record.
2. You can actually listen to the speeches again.
This is something many of my clients mention afterwards. On the wedding day itself, listening carefully to every word of a speech can be almost impossible when you are overwhelmed with emotions, surrounded by people, and probably wondering what is happening next. With a video, you can hear it all again later.
3. It’s easy to share with people who couldn’t be there.
Photos are great, but a video can give people who missed your wedding a much better feeling of what the day was actually like. They can hear the speeches, see the reactions, and experience some of the atmosphere.
4. You’ll probably watch it years later.
Maybe you'll watch it with your children one day. Maybe even your grandchildren. A few minutes of video can become a little time capsule of your wedding day — with your voices, your family, your friends and all those details you may otherwise forget.
Cons
1. The price.
A professional videographer usually costs about the same as a photographer, so adding video can make a noticeable difference to your wedding budget. You need to plan for it carefully. Of course, you don't need to worry about this one with me, as my VLOG are completely free.
2. More people, more gear.
This can be important if space is limited. If you’re getting married on a small boat or having dinner in a tiny restaurant, having two or three photo and video professionals moving around can become a little uncomfortable — both for you and your guests.
3. More contracts, deadlines and payments.
This is a smaller issue, but it is still something to consider. Another videographer usually means another contract, another deposit, another payment and another person to coordinate with. If all the services are provided by the same company, like they are with us, things can obviously be simpler. But that isn't always the case, so it’s worth keeping in mind when making your decision.
